Next morning we had a look at the Castle Gate and Castle Monastery. They date from the early 1200s and sit at one end of the bridge (top). The tower decorated with red and black bricks was added during the late Middle Ages. After the Reformation, it was used as a poorhouse by the city, later as a courthouse and remand prison and finally as a cultural forum and museum.
